Cheryl Bella is a General State Certified Appraiser in both Louisiana and Texas, holding the prestigious MAI and AI-GRS (General Review Specialist) designations from The Appraisal Institute. With decades of experience in appraisal, compliance, and risk management, Cheryl is a recognized expert in real estate valuation and financial institution compliance. 

Cheryl has been deeply involved in leadership within The Appraisal Institute, serving in various state and regional capacities, including as Louisiana Chapter President in 2013. In 2015, she was appointed by the Governor of Louisiana to the Louisiana Real Estate Appraisers Board, further solidifying her role as a trusted authority in the field. She is also an AQB Certified USPAP Instructor and an instructor for the Risk Managers Association (RMA) now known as ProSight. 

Her financial institution compliance experience began with the establishment of the Appraisal Department for City National Bank (First Commerce Corporation), where she served as Vice President before continuing in the same role at Bank One Corporation. She later led the development of Hancock Bank’s Appraisal Department in Louisiana. Throughout her career, Cheryl has been instrumental in due diligence analysis for bank acquisitions, corporate-wide appraisal policy formulation, and lender training development. 

In 2014, Cheryl played a key role in developing an innovative appraisal management and compliance program, FICRAS (Financial Institution Complete Risk Aversion Solution), which enables banks to manage their appraisal processes in-house while maintaining full control of decision-making and data. She currently serves as Chief Compliance Officer for this nationwide risk management program. 

Beyond her institutional work, Cheryl is an accomplished educator and speaker, having written and presented annual banking compliance seminars for state banking associations, conducted regulatory compliance training for financial institutions, and delivered seminars and webinars on appraisal and real estate topics. She has also been a featured speaker at Appraisal Institute and American Society of Appraisers national conferences. 

As a private contractor and consultant, Cheryl remains committed to educating lenders, real estate professionals, and appraisers on appraisal-related regulations, theory, and best practices. Her passion for compliance, education, and industry advancement makes her a valuable resource for professionals navigating the evolving landscape of real estate valuation and financial risk management.
